Alongside our self-study interactive platform access, you will have 90-minute live classes with a native teacher every week. Where possible, we always try to keep the same teacher and small group along the six-month course.

If you decide to embark on a learning journey with us and start either the Beginner or Immediate courses, you will become CEFR certified in A1 or A2. These levels were developed by the Council of Europe to validate language learning ability by giving students a firm understanding of English grammar and vocabulary. The CEFR Framework was designed to convey the different levels of oral, written comprehension of the English language. Teachers can use this framework to determine what level their students are and if they require any extra help. Direct English Live’s levels are aligned with the CEFR’s framework.  

Core is a tutor-led group class with weekly 90-minute sessions and a structured CEFR curriculum. 1-1 is private tuition with a dedicated tutor and a personalised curriculum on a flexible schedule. Flex is a self-paced option with interactive video lessons, quizzes, and progress tracking on any device. Fluency is a live conversation course focused on building speaking confidence through guided group discussions. All courses are taught by certified native British tutors except Flex, which is self-guided.

Core covers CEFR levels A1 (Beginner) through B2 (Upper Intermediate). Flex covers 8 levels from A1 through C1 (Advanced). 1-1 lessons are customised to any level based on your starting point and goals. Your level is assessed at the start of the course and you receive a CEFR-aligned certificate each time you complete a level.

Yes. Many learners combine courses for the best results. For example, you might take Core for structured weekly learning and add Fluency for extra conversation practice. If you start one course and decide another format suits you better, contact our team and we will help you transfer.

Yes. Every tutor on Direct English Live is a native English speaker from the United Kingdom. All tutors hold university degrees and professional teaching qualifications such as CELTA or TEFL. Teaching experience ranges from 2 to over 10 years.

Absolutely. The Core course starts at CEFR A1, which is designed for learners with no prior English knowledge. The Flex self-study course also begins at A1 with guided video content, vocabulary building, and pronunciation exercises that assume no previous experience. Your tutor or the platform will place you at the correct starting level.
